Where Do They lay their eggs?
Loggerheads are mainly found in the Indian, Atlantic, and Pacific Oceans. Also in the Mediterranean sea. They come to shore and lay their eggs above the high tide line. The mother digs a hole and covers them up. The female loggerhead turtles lay their eggs at the same beach they came out of their eggs as babies.
How long does it take For the eggs to hatch?
For Loggerhead turtle eggs to hatch it takes approximately 80 days before they dig through the sand to the surface. The ones in the middle are usually the largest, the fastest, and the most active.
What happens to the baby turtle once it is hatched?
Once they have digged through to the surface they enter the ocean. To do this they look at the reflection of the moon and starlite on the waters surface. This occurs at night to decrease the chance of getting eaten by predators.
